Period Hands-on Activities Kid Friendly!

Play period games just like the kids did back in the early 1800s! Graces, hoops and sticks, dominoes, farkle, and more!

Musket Demonstration

Hear the crack of the musket volley and smell the gunpowder! Find out exactly why those crazy soldiers stood in lone lines on the battlefield!

1813 Patrol*

Join the soldiers of Fort Meigs as a refugee leaving for safety. You'll be escorted to Fort Stephenson, free from attack... if all goes well, of course!

Artillery Demonstration

Learn about the cannons used at Fort Meigs during the First Siege. Don't forget to cover your ears!

The Battle for Fort Meigs Interpretive Talk

Join a staff historical interpreter for a discussion on the First Siege of Fort Meigs and hear a detailed account of the fighting that occurred here in 1813.

Drill with British Soldiers Kid Friendly!

Kids (and kids at heart) can pick up the (wooden) musket, don a set of cross belts, and learn to march and train like the soldiers of His Majesty's Britannic Army did during the War of 1812!

Rifle Demonstration

While the rifle was similar to the musket, there were some key differences. Join the riflemen of Fort Meigs for a discussion of their weapons and tactics and see one fired!

Battle Demonstration

The highlight of the day! See the recreation of Dudley's Defeat on the fields surrounding the fort. The original fighting took place on May 5, 1813 - the bloodiest day of the First Siege of Fort Meigs.
