Play period games just like the kids did back in the early 1800s! Graces, hoops and sticks, dominoes, farkle, and more! (Activities cease during the Ceremony)

Musket Demonstration

Hear the crack of the musket volley and smell the gunpowder! Find out exactly why those crazy soldiers stood in lone lines on the battlefield!

Army Medicine

Learn how soldiers were cared for when they became sick or wounded during the War of 1812. What medicines did they have back then?

Artillery Demonstration

Learn about the cannons used at Fort Meigs during the First Siege. Don't forget to cover your ears!

Memorial Ceremony & Wreath Laying

The highlight of the day! Join us in honoring our nation's fallen heroes; both those that served at Fort Meigs during the War of 1812 and all the men and women of the United States military. A memorial ceremony and wreath laying takes place at the Fort Meigs Monument and the Pennsylvania Monument.

Drill with American Soldiers Kid Friendly!

Kids (and kids at heart) can pick up the (wooden) musket, don a set of cross belts, and learn to march and train like the soldiers of the U.S. Army did during the War of 1812!

While the rifle was similar to the musket, there were some key differences. Join the riflemen of Fort Meigs for a discussion of their weapons and tactics and see one fired!
