Construction Begins
Commemorate the 200th anniversary of Fort Meigs on the actual date it all began! War of 1812 soldiers and civilians will host a small winter encampment to recreate what life was like as Fort Meigs was constructed. Activities take place inside and outside of the visitor center. Learn what it took to construct Fort Meigs during the winter of 1813.
Warm up inside the visitor center with hot chocolate and treats while you witness demonstrations from the time period and try your hand at fun activities. Don't forget to tour our exhibit of never before seen artifacts on display in the museum. We have over two dozen artifacts that have never before been displayed at Fort Meigs such as a piece of the ship that Francis Scott Key was on when he wrote the Star Spangled Banner. See soldier's diaries, letters, weapons, personal items an more!
